80 Beats Medical signs exclusive data sharing agreement with King's College London and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, supporting research funded by The Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF), for the development of new non-invasive digital biomarkers for Preeclampsia detection.

Berlin & London, September 1, 2026. 80 Beats Medical is pleased to announce the signing of a strategic data collaboration agreement with King's College London and King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, supporting research funded by The Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF).

The agreement grants 80 Beats Medical access to anonymized cardiovascular analysis data from more than 20,000 pregnancies collected as part of one of the world's largest prospective cardiovascular pregnancy studies. The data will be used to further develop and clinically validate the company's proprietary PERI Score,  a machine-learning  algorithm designed to improve the early identification of women at increased risk of pregnancy complications, including preeclampsia, gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes.

Hypertensive disorders affect approximately one in five pregnancies worldwide, yet current screening methods still fail to identify many women who later develop serious complications. 80 Beats Medical is developing data-driven and machine learning algorithms that can be integrated into a routine non-invasive blood pressure assessment, providing a scalable diagnostic solution that can be easily integrated into existing clinical workflows.

The dataset was generated over several years through the Advanced Cardiovascular Assessment in Pregnancy study at King's College Hospital in London under the scientific leadership of Professor Kypros Nicolaides and Dr. Marietta Charakida. Participants underwent standardized vascular assessment using the VICORDER®, 80 Beats Medical's non-invasive cardiovascular assessment platform, alongside routine obstetric examinations, ultrasound assessments and long-term pregnancy follow-up.

While the first application is the PERI Score for preeclampsia, the dataset also provides a foundation for developing future AI algorithms targeting other pregnancy complications, including gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes. Laura Jassoy, Managing Director of 80 Beats Medical, says:

"This is probably the largest standardized cardiovascular pregnancy dataset collected using a single vascular assessment platform anywhere in the world. It represents years of prospective research, standardised measurements and clinical outcome collection. This gives us the foundation to develop and validate AI-powered diagnostic algorithms that can transform a routine blood pressure measurement into an intelligent screening tool, helping identify substantially more women at risk of preeclampsia, gestational hypertension and gestational diabetes."

About The Fetal Medicine Foundation

The Fetal Medicine Foundation (FMF) is an internationally recognized non-profit organization dedicated to improving maternal and fetal health through research, education and the development of evidence-based screening strategies. Founded by Professor Kypros Nicolaides, FMF has played a pioneering role in establishing many of the screening approaches that are now considered the global standard in fetal medicine.
